As we were in town during our trip, I made contact and we called in and met with a group of Fremantle Branch members during their Saturday morning get together by the port. We were made very welcome and enjoyed a chat in sunny conditions overlooking the busy port.
One of the members then mentioned a display of bikes just down the wharf at the Maritime Museum so we wondered down for a look. The display was in honour - memory of Arthur Grady (a Fremantle "lad") who circumnavigated Australia back in 1924 on a Douglas. That was well worthwhile and more photos are here: https://ulyssesmelb.com/gallery/surprising-day-fremantle
Here is one of the type of bike Kris and I toured Europe on back in 1995!
Yes - a VF 1000F Brought back some memories for us.
The Maritime Museum was also great and I saw many references to the ship that brought me to Oz back in 1954
And then there was more
the very next day we caught up with Ken (Papa Smurf) - recent Dearnley medallist and his dog Chloe at Joondalup
And on Monday we caught up with Garry Warner (recent editor of Riding On) in Geraldton.
Such camaraderie is one of the many great things about this club
