Greg G's Officer to Sorrento via Flinders 24 05 20:
We had 4 participants - Holly Fields (V Strom), Dean Wells (biggest Indian in Oz - a Magnum?), Bill Dusting (V Strom) and Greg Gleason (aka Sailbad on a BMW XR). Greg started out on the FZR, but a pesky oil light saw a quick swapperoo and back he came on the XR. Not in the plan, but good anyway.
We left Officer in mild drizzle, but it got no worse, so on we went. Down through the back streets of Pearcedale to Mornington. Greg's fears that his ride was "on the rocks" after the FZR let him down were unfounded!! In fact, we got coffee at "The Rocks" waterside restaurant (courtesy of Dean) and it was very nice!! We did the Esplanade and cut back to White Hill, then Red Hill before a quick right at Flinders to do the gorges (and they were gorgeous) but we were stunned by the hundreds doing the Cape Schanck walking trail!! Then off to Sorrento for lunch and, for me, a pretty boring run home. Uneventful, except for all 4 of us failing "RACV Patrolman 101" exams, and also that the coffee place must have a "one cup per day" policy - the window shut as Dean walked towards it!!
What great ride colleagues - thanks guys (& gal)!! Next time Dean - it's my turn for the coffees....
