Ulysses Club Melbourne Branch
Ride Report – Vince Green’s Kalkallo to Yarck – 9 6 2019
So there we were – all 18 of us – putty in the hands of the Hon. Vince Green, Ulysses Local Member for Mernda.  Young Mr Green knows his constituency well, so a good ride was on the cards…..
This was the hard bit – if I missed anyone, apologies!!
Vince – V Strom (Ride Leader)                    Ian Monk – Kwaka W800 (Tail End Charlie)
Greg G – Thruxton R  (Photographer)      Big Dave – Buell                                 Colin – BMW R1200 GSA
Sam – BMW R1200 GS                                   Jack – BMW R1200 GSA                Mike – BMW R1200 RS
Stuart – Honda Shadow                                 Robert – Triumph Explorer 800   Carlo – BMW K1200GT
Tez – BMW R9T                                                 Dennis – Ducati Monster              Andrew – Yamaha Tracer GT
Les – Yamaha FJR1300                                    John – Triumph Spirit                      Garry – Victory Jackpot
Jeff = BMW R1200 GS Rallye
An impressive sequence of roads, many in Vince’s constituency.  Kalkallo to Eden Park, to Whittlesea, to Kinglake West, to Hazeldene and Flowerdale, to the best bends on the ride (sadly) inside the 60 zone at Strath Creek.  From there to Kerrisdale (no time to visit the railway – Vince was a man on a mission), and then through Homewood to the outskirts of Yea.  Everyone lights up at the left turn into the Ghin Ghin Road – what a spectacular run.  Highlands, Caveat, Terip Terip, Gobur and down the escarpment to Yarck!!
It was relatively incident free, apart from the occasional u turn issue (look John, a corner marker…..) and the “meet and greet” some of us had to have (see pics) – a large (for that species) Echidna crossing the road near Gobur!!

Why not?  Excellent weather, superb scenery, great roads and great company!!  The Ulysses Cook Book has one page……  and turns out masterpieces week after week!!  If you missed this one, you have my sympathy.  I rode into Yarck in company with Big Dave – helmets off and I’m not sure whose smile was bigger!!
What Else?
Thanks, Vince, for a great ride, and to Ian for his superb performance as Tail End Charlie.  Thank the photographer?  Better check if he got your good side first!!  But thanks everyone for making it a great day out!!
What’s Next?
Greg has a ride from Kalkallo to Berwick.  Some roads less travelled, plus a curry house at the end!!  See you there…..

Great ride from Vince today, praying for good weather next week..
Andrew stole a corner marker opportunity from me again, God love him...

Enjoyed reading that and Big Dave's contribution.  Well done everyone cool Difficult to feign jealously from tropical Broome winkcheeky
