President’s Report December 2012
First I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas, an enjoyable, healthy, prosperous and safe new year and I hope you can take some time to do the things you actually enjoy in life.
The last couple of months have been very busy with members attending our first Odyssey at Nagambie (which proved to be a great venue), the Moto GP, the Memorial Day at Mt Macedon, VSK Day, the Motorcycle Expo, the Christmas function and the Toy Run among other things.
There is also a good variety of events coming up on both the ride calendar and also Events Around the Traps (website rally page)and I hope to see you at some of them. I remind you that an easy way to keep up to date and maximise your access to information on the website is to always check “Latest Content” when visiting the site.
I would remind you that the branch Annual General Meeting will be held on 17 February 2013 at Donvale Sports Ground. Nominations for contested committee positions must be received not less than 28 days before that meeting. I have nomination forms available and they will be posted on the web site and in the December Spare Tyre. The branch can only continue to provide for the enjoyment of members by having an active and constantly evolving committee.
I have accepted a nomination to stand as president again but that will definitely be my final year in that role. Nominations have been received for all formal positions with changes to the treasurer and ride coordinator positions. It is still open for members to stand for any position and we would really like to see a number of members nominate to join the committee and take on the task of running branch related social events and bring in some fresh views. If you think you have some skills that can help the continuity of this great branch and club please do step up and get involved.
I would again like to remind members of our sponsors. These sponsors greatly assist the finances of the branch and I do encourage you to support them when it comes to bikes, servicing, accessories and clothing. Our newest sponsors, Two Wheel Touring NZ (see story on front page of website) and Andy Strapz plus our regular sponsors Bike Mart, Jeffrey Motorcycles, Metro Motorcycles plus Treads &Things provide the support which has enabled us to fund things such as The Odyssey and VSK Day plus fund web site & Spare Tyre costs and keep branch funds in a very healthy state.
I remind everyone that safety is the responsibility of each and every individual who participates in rides and events and unsafe practices will not be tolerated. Exercise courtesy and consideration to all road users to make sure we all get home safely with ourselves, our licences and bikes intact and enjoy our participation to the maximum.
Finally, I will say, “When riding, practise road craft, courtesy and consideration for others so that we can continue to enjoy our motorcycling safely.”
