Ride Report – Optional Pelican Feeding

Greg G’s Ride 18 02 18 – San Remo via Strezlecki, Korumburra, Inverloch and Wonthaggi

19 riders gathered for a superb day.  Heading off from Dandenong, we cruised off through Hampton Park, Rythdale, Cardinia and unknown parts beyond (was Greg’s GPS actually working?).  Through Athlone, Poowong, Ranceby and the superb curving roads to Korumburra.  After a caffeine hit, we slipped over the Kongwak hills with their spectacular sweeping bends and endless panoramas, dropping down into Inverloch to take in the coast road to Cape Paterson, Wonthaggi, Kilcunda and finally San Remo.

With the pelicans on strike (it was the day of the heavily populated “Channel Challenge” and the high seas obviously offered more enjoyment), we had no option but to feed ourselves at a variety of options.  So good was it that President Greg Rees (en route from the Groggy Wombat Rally) dropped in to share the lunch break with us

In warm sunny weather, a moderating sea breeze, and only moderate traffic, we headed home.  The sun had receded behind some cloud so the ride was pleasant.

Appreciation to TEC Brian Lacey.  Thanks also to all who came along – it was a very friendly group and a great day.
