Updates on Johns heart bypass op

John had heart bypass surgery this afternoon. Four grafts and his surgeon tells me his heart looks good. He is now in Intensive Care and should be moved to the high care unit tomorrow. Will be in Cabrini 7-10 days. He wont be up to visitors or phone calls for a while. I'll keep you posted as to how he is recovering. XX Marg

Update on surgery

Yesterday was a bit rough. Johns blood pressure kept rising and they couldnt get it under control until evening. He is still in ICU until he has stabilised, hopefully today. He is drugged up so pain not too bad unless he is turned. The need to turn him to help chest drainage and his lungs. Staff at Cabrini have been wonderful and they let me sit with him in ICU. XX Marg

Update

Thanks for all your support & good wishes. John says he will feel better tomorrow or Tuesday. He is still in high care, his heart beat has been v high & he had a bit of a turn this afternoon. His surgeon came in and things settled down with medication. He has been dozing most of the day although they got him up out of bed this morning. Visitors are restricted and he is not up to phone calls. Xx marg

Update Tues

John has atrial fibrillation which they are treating with medication at this stage. If he doesn't improve in 24 hours they will do a defibrillation Wed. He is very tired and dozes most of the day.
