I’m not going to talk about the obvious things which cause most of the deaths and serious injuries on our roads namely driving whilst impaired (by alcohol, drugs or fatigue) driving while distracted (e.g. texting) or deliberate risk taking such as inappropriate speed and overtaking when unsafe etc.  All I can say is don’t do those things and do your very best to avoid the idiots doing so.

Trail / Dirt Bike riding

Hi all,

I recently picked up a Suzuki DRZ400E and am now doing single track/forest riding with a group of older guys.

If any Ulysses members are interested in joining us on our monthly trail rides, send me a message for details.

Each month we organise a ride to a different forest/location and ride around single trails etc. Nothing to fast.

Aimed at smaller dirt/adventure bikes with knobbie tires a must.

Ride to Maryanne and Hank Tigges’ home at Scarsdale

Maryanne and Hank had very kindly offered to host lunch at their rural property south of Ballarat at the conclusion of the branch ride on Sunday, 27 August 2017

The late Ron Blomley had offered to lead the ride and had actually done a 400 kilometre reconnaissance on Sunday 20 August in preparation.   Unfortunately Ron passed away (at home) the very next day and this ride morphed into a tribute / farewell ride in Ron’s memory.  Our branch president Greg Rees took over as ride leader.

2017 AGM Journey

I had planned a four day circuitous ride which involved visiting friends in Wodonga, Sydney and Nowendoc before arriving at Wauchope around noon on Monday, 22 May.  Put plainly, the weather forecasts for the Friday and Saturday were simply ghastly, so I simplified my plan.  I left Montrose mid afternoon on the Friday and got some light drizzle as I rode the Black Spur

2017 Autumn Ice Run

Ride Report – 2017 Ulysses Melbourne Ice Run

“Talisker” - (from the Scottish)  - land of the wooded cliff and sloping hills, the secluded isle, the captivating land mass that becomes the navigator’s beacon”.

Thus begins this tale……

“ Master Helmsman, how shall we navigate?  Where lieth the Talisker?”  “Captain, I know of not, for she be veiled in a cloak of fog….”
