First the plan is to explore some farm country south of Officer and then cut across to Mornington and ride the Esplanade from Mornington to Dromana while it is not too busy and stop for a rest break at Arthurs Seat  after about 80 km.

After that we will explore a bit of the peninsula and plan to stop at Coolart  Wetlands and Homestead for for a picnic / BBQ lunch.
NB No food services at the lunch destination.

Why not invite some extra family members to come along and enjoy a BBQ lunch?

There are good picnic, BBQ & toilet facilities there but bring your own supplies for lunch as there are no shops at destination.

Comments

Why not have some children and grandchildren join in?
I estimate we should be at the top of Arthurs Seat about 11.10AM if anyone wants to catch up there.
After a leisurely break we should manage the 60 km to The Coolart Homestead grounds before 1.00PM.
There are a number of BBQs on site and lots of picnic tables plus toilet facilities etc.
About a 1.5 km return walk to the beach.
Why not make it a family day?
No food available on site.  Shops including an IGA at Balnarring approx 2km from site which is off Lord Somers Road.enlightened

It won't effect the ride but our local guide Barry alerted me to roadworks on the Dandenong Hastings Road which at present is closed altogether near Dandenong / Cranbourne Road.
It is "supposed" to be finished on Monday so may still be closed on Sunday.
Relevant to those riding home from Balnarring
Probably worth heading due north from Balnarring and picking up Peninsula Link at some stage enlightened
