The lies have now been fabricated:
Fathers’ day was enjoyed properly on Sunday and over a dozen of us got out for a ride and enjoyed some camaraderie with some fellow Ulysseans.
A couple of participants were running a bit late, so had the good sense to let the ride leader (me) know. They made it Okay and one other member just squeaked in on time. Once briefing etc were down we headed south and rode through flat farm country for about 50 km before picking up Bungower Road and crossing the peninsula to Mornington. We then picked up the Esplanade at its northern end, got some views of the pier and Mills Beach and then simply followed the shoreline to Dromana. The weather had been kind until then but as we started to ride up to Arthurs Seat, we discovered it had its own weather system and had drizzle until we descended again.
We enjoyed a leisurely break at the top anyway and were greeted by John Taylor who joined us for the rest of the ride.
We then rode via Main Ridge back to Boneo and enjoyed some coastal views of Bass Strait and a wide variety of farmland before reaching Balnarring and turning off to our destination at Coolart Homestead where we enjoyed a quickish self-catered lunch break. It was nice to meet up with Barry too who had brought some additional nourishment with him.
Being Fathers’ Day, it seemed everyone headed off home fairly promptly to catch with family after doing the proper thing by riding first. Many thanks to all who came along and Les for doing Tail End Charlie Duty.
